Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most about hiring a private assistant in Toronto.

What does a private assistant do?

A private assistant manages the logistics of your personal and professional life. That includes your calendar, email, and travel, errands and shopping, household and family coordination, and personal bills and paperwork. The exact mix depends on what you need handled.

How much does it cost to hire a private assistant in Toronto?

Your cost has two parts: the assistant's pay, which depends on the hours, experience, and scope of the role, and our placement fee. We charge a $500 engagement fee to begin the search, credited toward your total once a candidate is placed. The rest of the fee is a percentage of the candidate's starting salary, which we go over in your first conversation.

How do I hire a private assistant in Toronto?

You can hire directly by writing the job posting, screening applicants, interviewing, checking references, and handling the paperwork yourself. Or you can work with a firm like ours. You tell us what you need, we find and vet candidates, and we introduce the ones who fit your role and working style.

What is the difference between a private assistant and a personal assistant?

The titles overlap. "Private assistant" tends to point to work for an individual or family, with an emphasis on discretion, while "personal assistant" covers the same kind of support. We place personal, executive, and administrative assistants, so we match you with the right scope whichever title you use. See our personal assistant placement in Toronto.

Can a private assistant work part-time or remotely?

Yes. We place full-time and part-time private assistants, in person or virtual. In-person roles are available in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, and virtual roles are available across Canada and the USA.

How do you vet private assistants?

Every candidate completes a rigorous screening and interview process, professional reference checks, and background verification before joining our network. Our team has worked as both managers and assistants, so we also assess professionalism, discretion, communication skills, and cultural fit.

Will my private assistant keep my information confidential?

Discretion is one of the qualities we assess in every candidate, alongside professionalism, communication, and fit. Reference checks and background verification are completed before anyone is introduced to you.

What happens if my private assistant leaves or the match doesn't work out?

Every placement carries a 90-day replacement guarantee. If the fit is wrong within that window, we find you a replacement at no additional cost. We also check in throughout the guarantee period and stay available whenever something comes up.

How long does it take to hire a private assistant?

It varies with the role and your needs. Once we begin, we get to work right away and build your timeline into the search from the start. After we learn what you are looking for, we give you a clearer estimate.

Who hires a private assistant through Helpers Studios?

Our clients include families, busy professionals such as doctors and lawyers, executives, and business owners. What they share is a full schedule and a need for someone dependable to take on the day-to-day.
